To the editor: Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers everywhere!

Every mother is a super hero, and we should celebrate them all the time. Our mothers are responsible for creating, molding and teaching all of us how to be responsible adults. All mothers are strong and loving, but single mothers have a much tougher job. Many of our great and famous citizens have grown into strong leaders because their mom did the job of two parents. Over the past year of pandemic and lock downs, mothers of the world have been called upon to be provider, teacher, protector and comforter. We recently lost my sister, who was the single parent of three amazing sons. They traveled from Berlin, Maui and Oklahoma to comfort and care for her in her final weeks. They advocated for her health needs and protected her wishes. Mothers do the work that no one else wants to do. Mothers will fight for their child, while teaching them to respect others and stand up for themselves. Mothers will work the extra hours, so her child might get exposure to those special STEM classes, or take golf lessons, or just to keep food on the table, and clothes on their backs. Mothers take the extra step to make sure their babies will know love, empathy and understanding. We all want our mothers to be proud of us, proud of the way we handle life, proud of the way we choose friends and proud of the contributions that we make to society. Although, it's just one day on the calendar, let's all strive to do something that makes life just a little easier for all moms. Share something good with Mom while she can see, feel and appreciate it. It's never too late to start, but it is best making each day count. A worry-free day of rest is always welcome. Happy Mother's Day to all the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunties and friends in heaven.
