FONTANA, Calif. — God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best. Richard Gordon Parker, age 77, entered life on Dec. 15, 1942, in High Point, North Carolina and entered rest on Nov. 1, 2020,
in Fontana California.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Effie Lee Deckard, on Oct. 15, 1989, and sister Peggy J. Porterfield on Oct. 14, 1997.
Richard grew up in High Point, attended High Point Central and moved to California in the early 1960s. He had a lifetime love for guns and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. With his outgoing personality and great sense of humor you never knew when the next joke would pop out.
He is survived by a daughter, Cathy Darr of Winston-Salem, NC; a son, Bill Durham (Sabrina) of Ontario, California; a daughter, Liddy Walker (Eric) of Lake Elsinore, California. Grandchildren Christen Nichols (Brian) of Winston-Salem, Justin Hendricks (Katie) of Rogers, Arkansas, Ocean Durham of Chino Hills, California, Maddy Durham of Alabaster, Alabama, Amelie Durham of Ontario, California, Wade Walker and Aspen Walker of Lake Elsinore, California. Great-grandchildren Brett Nichols and Chase Nichols of Winston-Salem and Saint Durham of
Chino Hills, California. And a special friend Susan Douk and family.
On Nov. 11, the family received
friends at Family Funeral Chapel in Rialto, California, followed by a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Covina, California.
