HIGH POINT — Mr. James Thomas Diggs, fondly known as “Zack Attack,” passed away on May 25, 2021 at WFBH High Point Medical Center. He was born on March 12, 1960, in Richmond County, NC, a son of Gracie Mae Ellerbe Fitzpatrick and the late Luke Junior Diggs II. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Gilmer and Catherine Ellerbe Smith.

James attended the public schools of Guilford County. He was an independent landscaper, and loved to work on cars. James loved to sing and dance, and dearly loved his family...especially his baby girl Shenelle. He was a member of St. Joseph Holiness Church of God in Candor, NC, where he served as a deacon under the leadership of Rev. William Townsend. His favorite saying was “Ba Dow!”

Surviving relatives to cherish memories are his daughter, Shenelle Nicole Wright (Kiesha); one stepson, Reggie Baldwin; his mother, Gracie Mae Ellerbe Fitzpatrick; four grandchildren, Elijoshua Mason, Jalen Wright, Essencee Clinton and Eboni Clinton; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Wall and Alaiya Mason; one sister, Mae Sallie Ellerbe (James); three brothers, Joe Louis Diggs, James Junior Diggs (Debra) and Luke Junior Diggs III; a very special friend, Gladys Eccles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. Mr. Diggs may be viewed on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
