TRINITY — Floyd Hamilton Summit, 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. He was born on Nov. 9, 1927 in Caldwell Co., NC to the late Albert and Mary Floyd Summit.
Floyd was a US Marine Corp veteran who went on to be co-owner of Southern Motors Equipment Company, a John Deere dealership. He enjoyed his gardening, traveling, and especially spending time with his family.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joe Summit; son-in-laws, Ron Gearren and Doug Price.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Sink Summit; daughters; Shela Gearren and Donna Price; grandchildren, Chris Gearren (Nicole), Michael Gearren (Kelly) and Kevin Price (fiancée Amanda); great grandchildren, Owen, Drew, Grier and Briella; sister, Zelda Smith; brothers, Bernor Summit (Peggy) and Jack Summit (Mary Etta); sister-in-laws, Sandra Lyon and Joann Summit; brother-in-law, Tom Sink; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Floyd’s name to Tabernacle UMC, 1895 Fuller Mill Road, Thomasville, NC 27360 or to Hospice of Randolph County, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
A private graveside service for Floyd will take place on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park; Pastor Lynn Chaney officiating.
