LANCASTER, South Carolina — Doris Marie Hazzard Milligan, 94, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

Doris was born in Guilford County, NC July 11, 1927, to the late Arthur and Laura Webber Hazzard. She married Jesse C. Milligan of Trinity NC, Sept. 26, 1942 and were together 51 years until his passing.

Mrs. Milligan was also preceded in death by infant daughter Joan Lynn and all 7 of her siblings, Virginia Ellington Englert, Albert Hazzard, Blanche Broadway Futo, Arthur Hazzard, Marion Hazzard, Franklin Hazzard, and Faye Hoglen Kee. She is survived by children Myra Ann Toth (Augustine), Dr. Robin Milligan (Dr. Pamela Milligan), Jill M. Balik (James) and 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Also survived by sister-in-laws Jean Hazzard, Dainese Hazzard and Ruth Helen Hazzard Noland.

Doris was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church before relocating to Coraopolis, PA in 1958. She was an active member of Coraopolis United Methodist Church, Methodist Women’s Guild and Social Order of the Beauceant (S.O.O.B.) previously serving as president of S.O.O.B.

Her life focused around family, friendship, hard work, perseverance, Southern hospitality and community service. She volunteered at the West Hills Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, an assistant 4-H Leader and Cub Scout Leader.

Doris enjoyed quilting and square dancing in her younger days. She returned to her beloved Carolinas 3 years ago.

A Celebration of Doris’s life will be held Tuesday, September 7 at 11 a.m. in the Sechrest-Davis Chapel by the Rev. Tim Webster. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
