HIGH POINT — Mrs. Brenda Louise Smith went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2021 at WFBH High Point Medical Center. She was born Dec. 24, 1948 in High Point, NC, a daughter of the late Mary Lee Carter, and was raised by her late great-grandmother, Doshie Carter (“Granny”). Brenda was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Smith; a son, Lorenzo Michael Smith; three sisters, Helen Carter, Vanessa Foddrell and Linda Carter; and one brother, Donald Ray Carter.
Brenda attended William Penn High School and retired from Polo Ralph Lauren in 2011. She was a long-standing member of Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church. Brenda was a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved her family beyond measure. She enjoyed fashion and interior decorating, but the most important was her grandchildren. While the family will miss her, we are all comforted in knowing she is now free from illness and pain, and in God’s loving care.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Lorenzo Willie Smith; two daughters, Ms. Kim Nelson and Mrs. Teresa (Corey) Harris; three grandchildren, Charity (Princess) Nelson, Mya Harris and Michael Harris; two great-grandchildren, Atori Lamorris Lee Jr. and Amir Lamar Lee; two sisters, Mrs. Sharon (Terry) Miller and Ms. Debra Carter; two brothers, Mr. Otis (Shirley) Carter and Mr. Marvin Gash; special cousin, Ruby McQueen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
