HIGH POINT — The public can help restock food pantry shelves at two United Way events this week.
The United Way of Greater High Point will hold the “Stuff the Ambulance” and “Stuff the Bus” events on Wednesday and Thursday at the Walmart at 2710 N. Main St. to aid the 12th annual CANpaign Food Drive.
For the past 12 years, UWGHP has collected nonperishable food items to help restock local food pantries. Many people who have been most affected by the pandemic were food insecure or at risk of food insecurity before COVID and are facing greater hardship since COVID. The need is greater than ever, according to UWGHP President Jane Liebscher.
Piedmont Triad Ambulance and Rescue will provide an ambulance to stuff with donations, followed by Thomas Built Bus providing a bus to fill.
Donations will also be accepted at the Walmart at 2628 S. Main St. on Wednesday.
UWGHP staff will be on-site to answer questions and to accept monetary donations as well.
Anyone in the greater High Point community who wants more ways to get involved and make lasting change in the community can visit unitedwayhp.org/campaign-toolkit, Liebscher said.
