HIGH POINT β€” Longtime High Point accounting firm Sharrard, McGee & Co. has been purchased by a larger counterpart.

Carr, Riggs & Ingram, or CRI, announced in a press release Wednesday that it has recently closed on the acquisition of the local firm, which was founded in High Point in 1976.

Sharrard McGee Managing Director Patsy Isley said the local firm has about 45 employees between its two offices in High Point and Greensboro, and all of them remain in their jobs under the new ownership.

The local firm has taken on the CRI name, she said.

Based in Enterprise, Alabama, CRI has more than 1,900 employees throughout the Southeast and Southwest. It has offices in Raleigh and Eastern North Carolina, but nothing in the Triad until now.

Isley said the sale to CRI brings several advantages to the firm and its clients.

A full-service accounting firm, CRI also operates eight subsidiaries that focus on areas such as payroll management, data analytics, retirement plan administration, investment banking and wealth management.

Isley said CRI has a significant presence serving industries like construction, health care and manufacturing and distribution, and this offers the chance to grow into new markets.

β€œIt gives us a lot more depth,” she said.
