Kyleen Douglas, a kindergarten teacher at Montlieu Academy of Technology, reads a book to students Thursday as they celebrate Read Across America. The annual initiative celebrated on March 2 helps spread awareness and encourage children across the country to read. The school chose the theme “Reading Takes You Places,” and students and staff were encouraged to dress in attire as either a place they would like to visit, a tourist or a place they have visited.
