HIGH POINT – While the pandemic may have halted today’s traditional Veterans Day gatherings, there’s still a way to honor those who have served.

High Point University’s virtual Veterans Day celebration begins Wednesday at 11 a.m. online at www.highpoint.edu/live. HPU has partnered with the War Memorial Foundation, which supports the Carolina Field of Honor, to host the online event.

The free event marks HPU’s 10th annual Veterans Day celebration.

HPU and the War Memorial Foundation traditionally hold annual, large-scale events to honor the men and women who served the country, but their respective events can’t be held in person this year due to the pandemic.

The virtual event will include a special message from Lt. Gen. Robert VanAntwerp, a retired three-star general. The program also will include greetings from HPU President Nido Qubein, among others, and will feature special music, a color guard, a message from HPU students and other commemorative activities.
