The Walgreens drugstore at S. Main Street and W. Fairfield Road has been purchased for $7.3 million by a Pennsylvania investment company.

HIGH POINT — A Pennsylvania investment firm has completed a major purchase at a prominent intersection in south High Point.

A company associated with H. Katz Capital Group Inc. last month bought the Walgreens drugstore at S. Main Street and W. Fairfield Road for $7.36 million, according to a property deed.

The 14,393-square-foot store on 1.3 acres at 2758 S. Main St. was sold by a limited liability company with a mailing address in Deerfield, Illinois, which is where Walgreens’ corporate office is based.

H. Katz Capital Group, based in Southampton, Pennsylvania, refused to comment on why it bought the store or what its plans are for the property.

According to its website, it’s a private equity firm that was founded “to acquire businesses and provide funding to a wide range of companies.”

Its list of transactions on its website shows that it has purchased numerous apartment complexes in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee and Georgia.

It has also purchased several student-housing complexes near universities in Florida, South Carolina and Colorado, some of which the business sold in two or three years, according to its website.
