HIGH POINT — Food boxes for families will be given away in High Point later this month to help feed those who are in need.
Calvary Baptist Church, 808 Hilltop St., will host a food giveaway on Saturday, April 17, starting at 11 a.m. The Guilford CARES: Feeding the Community Food Drive is first come first serve.
Guilford County elected officials, in partnership with local churches and nonprofits, have been distributing food boxes every other week since February to address the county’s food insecurity issues as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each box of food is designed to feed a family and includes enough food for two weeks, including fresh meat and produce.
This program comes at a critical time when food drive donations are running extremely low in the wake of the ongoing pandemic and more than 90,000 people countywide suffer from food insecurities.
