HIGH POINT — Residents will have a chance to get an up-close look at some of the city’s community gardens and maybe pick up a few gardening tips along the way.
The public is invited to tour 18 community gardens and urban farms in High Point on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. The event is hosted by the Greater High Point Food Alliance and the city of High Point.
Different community gardens are participating. Those interested should register separately for each day.
Community gardeners will be on-site at each garden for two hours to share their stories, favorite growing tips and how to support urban agriculture.
All tours are self-guided. All registered participants will receive a map of the participating gardens. Participants can start at any garden and choose how many gardens to visit and how long to spend at each. Some gardens are participating virtually, so all registrants will get a link with additional video garden tours, organized by the urban agriculture working group of the Greater High Point Food Alliance, Growing High Point and N.C. Cooperative Extension Guilford County.
Attendees are encouraged to dress for the outdoors, and close-toed shoes are recommended. This event is weather-dependent. For weather updates, check the email used to register for the event.
