What you need to know today

EDITOR’S NOTE: Starting this week, The High Point Enterprise will scale back its publication of this column, which started at the outset of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 when case numbers and deaths were rising rapidly. As vaccinations have spread, case numbers and particularly deaths have dropped dramatically. “What you need to know today” will be published regularly on Saturdays, and we will publish it on other days as needed according to announcements and related news.

If you’d like us to include a listing, please email details to jfeeney@hpenews.com.

VACCINATION GIFT CARDS

The Guilford County Division of Public Health was selected by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services as one of four counties to host a COVID-19 vaccine incentive program at a vaccination site in Greensboro. Through today, the county will offer $25 cash cards to anyone aged 18 and older who completes a first-dose vaccination appointment or transports someone to a vaccination appointment. Those transporting individuals to the vaccine clinic must attest that they are not a driver for a transportation service such as Uber, Lyft or a taxi company. Cash cards will be distributed while supply lasts. Cash card incentives will only be available at the Guilford County Greensboro Coliseum vaccination site at 1921 W. Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro.
