RANDOLPH COUNTY — A number of administrative changes for the Randolph County School System were announced this month, as several familiar faces will be occupying new places in the coming year.

Among those who are switching roles for the 2021-2022 academic year, Julie Lindsay, assistant principal at Archdale-Trinity Middle School, was announced as the new assistant principal of Trinity Middle School, which will open in August. Cindy Walker, current principal at Level Cross Elementary School, will move to be the principal at Trindale Elementary School.

Todd Henderson, principal at Trindale, will become the principal at Hopewell Elementary. All changes will be effective July 1.

Also at this month’s Randolph County Board of Education meeting, those who were recognized as teachers of the year for their respective schools were recognized for their outstanding achievement in a difficult year.

Emily Caudill from Trindale Elementary School was one of five teachers named as finalists for the Randolph County School System’s Teacher of the Year award. She joined Katie Husband of Franklinville Elementary School; Paige Rollins, Eastern Randolph High School; Eliza Sanders, Northeastern Randolph Middle School; and Philip Schuyler, Randolph Early College High School as the nominees to be the recipient.

“Being selected as a teacher of the year finalist in our school system is a tremendous honor,” RCSS Superintendent Stephen Gainey said. “Being selected as your school’s teacher of the year is a tremendous honor.”

John Lawrence Elementary’s Megan Crowley was also recognized as one of three Randolph educators who were named “Beginning Teachers of Excellence.”

The individual honors that teachers receive this year carry added significance in the first year on campus since the COVID-19 pandemic shut schools down in March 2020. More than 13 months later, educators like the ones who received recognition from the board of education continue to help students adjust to the transition.
