ARCHDALE — Well, it’s been a minute since we last visited with all our friends in the community. Your author has been very busy answering many masters, but we’re glad to finally get past frost … in May … and on to summertime bassing. Archdale Bass Club’s latest foray was to a local favorite, High Rock Lake, strategically scheduled before the Memorial Day weekend when a day on the lake becomes like trying to navigate the agitator in a washing machine.
With the fish a bit confused by the weather, some guys actually found them. Bryan Green had a 5 fish limit for 12.86 pounds. Big Daddy Jimmy Burton landed in a solid second place with 5 fish and 13.70 pounds. And, George Lambeth knocked it out of the park with a 5 fish limit of 18.76 pounds anchored with two fish over 5 lbs. One being 6.14 pounds. It was still not the big fish for the day though. Mike Russell took bass-zilla honors for the day with a 6.74 pound fish.
Our next event will be at Falls Lake near Durham. Last year, we had a solid event with several big fish coming to the scales. Maybe the fish will settle down by then and the recreational traffic will be tolerable and safe.
We know everyone is ready for a long summer and the fun that comes with it. We hope everyone keeps in mind safety, particularly on the water, is not a sidebar. It is priority #1. It’s how we roll. And we’ll see you on the water.
