Eagles finish off Bulldogs early
Tyler Rhodes struck out seven in a two-hitter as East Davidson topped Thomasville 12-1 in Central Carolina 2-A Conference action on Friday night.
East upped its record to 8-4, 4-0. The Bulldogs fell to 2-9, 0-4.
Rhodes improved to 3-0 on the season.
The Golden Eagles’ Ryan McIntire went 1-for-1 with an RBI, while Cory Waldroup finished 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Kolton Hawks was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
LHS downs Trinity
Austin Stilley went 2-for-4 with a homer, double, two RBIs and two runs to spark Ledford to a 9-4 victory over Trinity as part of the HiToms Classic at Finch Field on Saturday.
Dalton Harris went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs for the Panthers (8-4).
Ledford’s Robbie Kernodle got the win. Chaz Shields and Jonathan Turner finished on the mound for Ledford.
Trey Mason finished 2-for-3 with a run for the Panthers, while Tebo White was 1-for-2 with a double and run and Connor Peacock was 1-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
East stomps Lexington
Bre Carroll got the win and Lindsay Jackson wrapped things up on the mound as East Davidson cruised past Lexington for a 17-0 win in 2 1/2 innings on Friday.
Ledford rallies in thriller
Megan Hayworth tossed a complete-game seven-hitter with seven strikeouts and went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as Ledford topped Pisgah 8-7 in eight innings in the Clash of the Champions at Alexander Central Saturday.
Erin Crotts finished 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Panthers (11-2), while Jessie Hayworth was 2-for-3 and Destiny DeBerry was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Ledford rallied from an early 5-0 deficit and tied things at 6-6 with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
International rules were used in the eighth inning (base runner placed at second base starting off the frame). Jessie Hayworth scored the winning run on a throwing error.
Lady Panthers smash Vikings
Grace Holland went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs to help Ledford roll past North Forsyth for a 16-0 Mid-Piedmont 3-A Conference victory on Friday night in Wallburg.
Mary Davis, Brinley Irvin and Nicole Lethco combined for a one-hit shutout for the Panthers (10-2, 7-0).
Mackenzie Cranford finished 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs for Ledford, while Erin Crotts was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Bayleigh Griffith and Abbey Crews each had two hits with an RBI for the Panthers.
The Matt Ridge Basketball Academy will be held June 23-26 from 8:30 a.m.-noon each day at Ledford Middle School.
For rising 1st-12th grade students, the goal of the Matt Ridge Basketball Academy is to give campers instruction in the fundamentals of basketball, as well as emphasize team play and sportsmanship. Campers will be divided into groups based on age and ability level. Instruction will be provided by Coach Matt Ridge and members of his coaching staff, former players and other area coaches.
Cost is $95 per camper which includes tuition, instruction, insurance and T-shirt.

HiTom Home Run
The third annual HiTom Home Run sponsored by Novant Health will be held Saturday, June 21 at 9 a.m.
The 5K route will begin at the Big Chair in Thomasville and will end at Finch Field's home plate. There will be a Kid's Fun Run held at 10 a.m at the field. There will be a post-race hospitality table sponsored by Sheets, along with Novant Health gift bags with performance wear shirt, gift cards, a Team USA baseball game ticket and other great inclusions. Entry fee is $25 with proceeds benefiting the Post 87 American Legion program.
A pre-race party will be held June 20 at the HiToms game against Columbia at 7 p.m.
